The renovation of a classic ballasted tram track in the course of Olszewskiego Street in Wrocław unexpectedly proved to be an interesting challenge for the Contractor. During demolition work, shallow roots of an old oak tree growing next to the tram track were encountered. Due to the safety of the trees, work was halted and a solution was devised to protect them as much as possible from damage. It was decided to use USP sleepers, which made it possible to reduce the thickness of the ballast layer. This allowed the excavation not to be deepened and protected a significant proportion of the trees.
